Kloeckner Metals sells 3004 aluminum sheet, a popular aluminum alloy with high strength and good formability. Contact us today for a quote.
3004 aluminum is a widely used alloy with high strength, good formability, good workability, excellent corrosion resistance, and drawing characteristics. It is non-heat treatable and shares many of the same applications as 3003 aluminum sheet.
3004 aluminum is a general purpose alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. Its composition is similar to 3003 aluminum sheet, however, a slight addition of magnesium increases its strength. One disadvantage of this grade is that it cannot be heat treated.
It is often seen in the packaging industry and kitchen and cookware manufacturing.
It is good for drawn and ironed rigid containers (beverage cans), chemical handling and storage equipment, sheet metal work, builders’ hardware, incandescent and fluorescent lamp bases. It is also used in similar applications to 3003, requiring good formability and higher strength.
It has excellent machinability.
It has good weldability.
It is non-heat treatable.

ANSWER:
These two general purpose alloys are very similar. In terms of their chemical composition, 3004 aluminum has an addition of magnesium which gives this grade the upper hand when it comes to strength.
ANSWER:
Yes, this grade is commonly used in kitchen and cookware manufacturing.
ANSWER:
It has many uses due to good strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, good workability and drawing characteristics. This includes beverage cans, chemical equipment, hardware, storage tanks, and lamp bases. Because it is so similar to 3003, it will be seen in similar applications, and especially those requiring higher strength.
