6061 aluminum is the most versatile 6000 series alloy. It is heat treatable, easily formed, corrosion resistant, and strong. After anodizing it has an excellent finish. Pipes can be cold drawn or made through hot extrusion and whole punching seamless processing. It is found in micro-motors, irrigation, construction, and furniture.
This is a prime choice for anodizing, giving it excellent corrosion resistant properties. Though it exhibits much lower strength than 6061 aluminum, its other mechanical properties remain advantageous and many applications are similar, as long as strength is not the critical factor.

Aluminum pipes are an extruded, lightweight product widely used in the food service and automotive industries. They are also purposed in general engineering, construction and architecture, aerospace, and medical and high technology. Pipes are produced from hollow extrusion ingot. They can be unthreaded (seamless) or threaded and with treatment can tolerate exposure to water, air/pressure, and oil.
ANSWER:
It is an round, hollow extruded product. It can be smooth on the interior and exterior, for seamless/unthreaded pipe, or it can have ridges or threads for threaded pipe.
ANSWER:
Pipes have many connection styles. Thickness, size, and whether the pipe is threaded and tapered or not are all considerations to make. Some common connection styles include: butt welds, barbed, compression fittings, quick turn and quick disconnect, stub ends and socket connects, flanged, clamped, flared, and claw connection for low pressure applications.
ANSWER:
To simplify, pipes and aluminum tubes differ mainly in that pipes are primarily purposed as vessels (air, gas, oil, water) whereas tubes are intended for structural applications.
