A710 is a low-carbon, high-strength alloy steel that’s routinely stocked nationwide across Kloeckner Metals’ 55+ branches.

A710 is a low carbon alloy steel that is age-hardened and has a high yield strength. It is available in two specifications—A and B—each containing three classes. It is often used for applications that require weight reduction or where manufacturers are looking to reduce welding costs or improve the ease of fabrication.
This steel grade has a high yield strength, but is also higher cost than some other grades. It has good formability, fair joining capabilities, and basic corrosion resistance.
Typical industries for A710 steel plate are the construction and transportation industries.
Typical applications for A710 steel plate are rail cars, truck frames, shipbuilding, piping components, and construction equipment.
A710 has good machinability. It can be machined in the annealed condition, but the H1150M condition will have the best results. If you machine in this condition, post machining solution treatment is required before the final hardening process.
A710 is good for welding. The common fusion and resistance method are most successful when welding A710. It is not recommended to use oxyacetylene welding.
A710 is heat treatable. The what to do heat treatment on A710 depends on the condition it is in.
