Through newly initiated “KloecknerCares,” Esther Jackson Elementary students received books on May 2 to take home for summer reading.

Roswell is home to the United States headquarters of Kloeckner Metals, a leading metal distribution company, sponsored a book drive that brought in approximately 1,300 books.

“KloecknerCares” aims to “give back to those communities where their employees live and work.”

In partnership with Read It Again bookstore in Suwanee, Kloeckner employees ran a book drive from the first week in March through the end of April.

The goal of the drive, according to a news release, “to ensure every student had at least one book to take home this summer.”

Collection locations were at the company’s corporate office in Roswell and three Metro Atlanta branches; two in Alpharetta and one in Suwannee.

At the conclusion, enough books were donated to give each of the 700 students two books to take home.

Kloeckner Metals CEO John Ganem delivered the books and a donation of $500 to the school.

“Kloeckner Metals is not just a business, it’s family. It’s filled with people who care about each other and their communities, and we’ve implemented this program to help causes that matter to our employees,” said John Ganem.

Individual branches of the company can “continue to support local organizations based on the needs of their communities,” and have the opportunity to formulate more ideas of how to give back effectively.

“The program will also serve as a way for employees to get involved in local organizations and help those in need through donations and volunteering,” said the release.

Ganem also noted the company’s plans beginning in the second quarter of this year, for headquarters to support several organizations and initiatives on a local level, which include sponsoring a back to school supplies drive and collecting donations for a men’s and women’s shelter.

According to the release, in 2019 Kloeckner Metals plans to identify a companywide charitable opportunity.
