KloecknerCares: Volunteer Day at Atlanta Humane Society

09.14.2021

There are countless ways to serve your community and do good. Taking the day to help animals and those dedicated to their care is undoubtedly a day well spent.KloecknerCares - AHS

So, on August 18th, when the Atlanta Humane Society was closed for a cleaning day, Kloeckner’s Tax Manager, Sharron Jackson, Retirement Plan Analyst, Bobbette Quinlan, and HR Administrator, Shameca Kelley showed up to assist with administrative support, facility cleaning, trash dumping, and animal engagement.

About the Atlanta Humane Society

For nearly 150 years, the Humane Society has prioritized animal welfare. Located near Kloeckner Metals’ corporate office in Alpharetta, Georgia, the Atlanta Humane Society connects homeless animals with loving homes and provides neglected animals with safe spaces.

Rehoming strays or surrendered pets is just one aspect of what they do. They also operate an affordable, public Veterinary Center in Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood, and provide resources for how to report animal cruelty or what to do in the event you come across a litter of stray kittens.

What is KloecknerCares?

Kloeckner Metals encourages employees to get involved and give back to the local community. With the KloecknerCares initiative, paid time off is given for charitable contribution and a few events are organized each quarter. Over the last three and a half years, Kloeckner has partnered with organizations making an impact in eldercare, education, foster care, and more.

Beautiful and Heartwarming

These shared volunteer experiences both deepen relationships between colleagues and help build new connections within the community. The Kloeckner Team met Kyleigh, the Atlanta Humane Society supervisor, and two totally adorable puppies, Addie and Roxette.

When asked about her volunteer experience with the Atlanta Humane Society, Bobbette said, “It was beautiful and heartwarming. I wanted to adopt all of them, but I just don’t have the space.”

Whether you’re able to adopt, volunteer, or donate, we encourage you to learn more about the Atlanta Humane Society and get involved in the great work they’re doing.
