Kloeckner Expanding South Carolina Facility

Kloeckner Metals will expand its Greenville, S.C., operations through a $11.3 million investment. The company will add 50,000 square feet to its existing facility to house a new high-speed, 84-inch wide slitting line.

The new Alcos slitting line will be capable of processing aluminum and high-strength steel. Kloeckner had not previously processed either material at the site, which already offers slitting, cut-to-length, multi-blanking and shearing.

“We wanted a slitting line that would look forward to the future of processing ever more demanding customer specifications, including advanced, automotive-grade steel and aluminum. We specified a highly automated line with sophisticated technology features that will deliver a highly-efficient and capable value proposition for our mill partners and customers,” says Kloeckner Metals Vice President Automotive Bob Cromley.

The expansion, which is expected to be completed by Sept. 1, will increase the facility’s size to 200,000 square feet. The new line will serve the growing automotive market in the Southeast.
