AR600 steel is a durable high-carbon alloy steel with excellent strength that’s supplied nationwide across our 40+ branches.
AR600 is the most durable abrasion resistant steel plate. Its impressive surface hardness makes it ideal for high wear applications.
This high strength steel grade shows supreme wear resistance, making it great for severe wear applications. One disadvantage is formability. Due to its high strength and surface hardness, this grade is not formable.
It is often used in the mining and aggregate removal industries
It is best for excessive wear applications. This includes mining and aggregate removal machinery, bulldozers, cutting edges and grates, hoppers, and truck beds.
It has good machinability.
It has fair weldability.
It is heat treatable.

It has fair weldability.
It is heat treatable.
It is used where extreme wear resistance is required. This includes heavy machinery found in the mining and aggregate removal industries.
This grade has exceptional hardness. This contributes to its signature durability and resistance to excessive wear applications. The downside of this is a lack of formability. As the hardness of steel increases, the steel becomes brittle, severely limiting bending, and forming capabilities.
The main differentiator between all abrasion resistant steels is the Brinell Hardness Number. In the case of these steel plates, they fall on opposite sides of the spectrum in terms of hardness. While AR200 is best for moderate wear applications, AR600 will last years even under severe wear applications. This difference in hardness directly impacts forming capability.
