General Info About A656

This grade steel is a high-strength, low alloy steel plate. Kloeckner offers A5656 in four different grades, including 50, 60, 70, and 80, and in three chemical requirements, type 3, type 7, and type 8. This specific steel has good formability, weldability, and notch toughness when in the as-rolled condition. It does well in low and ambient temperatures and, due to its strengths, it is typically used in the construction industry. Some common applications include truck frames, construction equipment, crane booms, and general fabrication.
