    This steel grade has strong notch toughness, high strength, and is suitable for low temperatures.

  • Industries

    Some common industries for this grade are the marine, chemical, power, and boiler industries.

  • Applications

    Heat exchangers, spherical tanks, oil and gas tanks, boiler drums, and separators are common applications for this steel.

  • Machining

    A633 can be machined in the annealed condition, however condition H1150M will provide the best result.

  • Welding

    A633 is excellent for welding.

  • Heat Treatment

    A633 is heat treatable.

  • What grades does this steel come in?

    This steel is available in four grades: A, C, D, and E. The differ slightly in their mechanical properties. For example, in their minimum yield points. Grade A has a minimum yield point of 290 MPa / 40 ksi, versus grade C and D at 345 Mpa / 50 ksi. Mechanical properties, such as yield point, will also vary depending on the thickness of the steel product. Of all four grades, grade E is available in the greatest thickness.
