TWP_Atlanta_Portrait_2017_AW.pngKloeckner Metals Corporation has ranked in the top 50 of midsized companies in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s 2017 Top Workplaces. Each year the AJC creates the list based entirely on feedback from employees at the various participating businesses, gathered through a survey conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, a research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. This year, Kloeckner employees had a lot of good things to say about their workplace.

“We’re pleased to receive this award,” says said Theresa Raines Scott, Director of Human Resources for Kloeckner Metals. “It simply validates a belief we’ve had for some time – Kloeckner Metals Corporation is a great place to work. We value our employees and that is reflected in both our employee and customer relationships. From that foundation, we are able to do almost anything. Our employees are engaged and clients are happy with our products and services. Receiving this award as a top workplace speaks volumes to the results that come from a company full of people who truly care about the work we are doing.”

Kloeckner has made a concerted effort to create a quality company culture and work environment over recent years. In the past two years, turnover has decreased some. Kloeckner is a large and growing international corporation which tries to create a climate where people can act as professionals and be given some level of independence. With many different branches around the country, each branch has somewhat of a unique work environment. It is in this way that Kloeckner can be a large corporation, but still, have the feeling of a tightly knit small business in the local offices.

Kloeckner hopes to build on this success with a company-wide program to improve workplace enjoyment and company culture. This is still in its starting phases, but the program shows promise. Jeff Corban,National Coordinator, Recruiting and Staffing for Kloeckner Metals, describes the culture at Kloeckner as a cross between a market-driven and entrepreneurial approach.

“We don’t tend to sit back and wait for the world to change around us, we strive to get ahead of the pack and drive the change we want, while going about our daily responsibilities,” Jeff says. “From a personal perspective, I believe Kloeckner is a fantastic organization with strong leadership. Kloeckner allows me to be a professional–less micro-management from my superiors and more trust in its employees with support as needed.”
