Dynamic Defense Materials LLC

The company began ten years ago in a Philadelphia, PA suburb, with the development of a business incubator using venture capital from Robert Lipinski. Bob is an entrepreneur from South Jersey who already built a very successful landscaping and snow removal business, “Lipinski Enterprises,” from a humble start in his garage.  He funded the business incubator research and development company.  Each cell concentrated on a different product line.   One cell concentrated on transparent armor, one on ceramic armor, and DDM on a portable armor wall concept.

Several years ago Bob and CFO John Yarsinsky decided to concentrate all of the company energy on the portable armor wall concept.  The concept was to manufacture and distribute a portable wall system which did not require heavy equipment to place, and after removal, would leave the environment as it was originally.  The army has been using sandbags and wood for hundreds of years for camp guard posts, observation posts, VCP/ECP greeter stations, sniper positions, cordon security.  DDM sees potential for other uses, such as election posts, and police and military recruiting stations.  The goal was to provide NIJ-Level 4 ballistic protection against enemy sniper fire, mortars, rockets, and shrapnel from IEDs, suicide bombers, and grenade attacks.

DDM has grown over the years and its success and product lines have become very personal with the addition of Joe Dimond.  Joe is an ex-Marine who lost one of his men to a sniper in Fallujah, Iraq.  Joe knows firsthand how valuable this life saving product can be.  The product has been rebranded McCurdy’s armor, in honor of Marine LCpl Ryan McCurdy, who charged from behind his secure position to rescue a fellow marine who had been hit by a sniper.  He was hit due to the lack of a system such as DDM’s guard post configuration, which allows perimeter security from behind armor rather than standing in front of permanent barriers.  DDM donates a portion of all future sales to Ryan McCurdy’s hometown of Baton Rouge, LA.  January is the fifth anniversary of Ryan’s death.

Temtco Steel was contacted in December 2006 along with several other fabricators to start production on the armor panels segment of the wall.  Over the past four years, Temtco York’s facility has fabricated thousands of armor panels and aluminum frames .  Temtco’s aluminum frames are fabricated at our partner, Spec Fab, in Honey Brook, PA.  Temtco worked with DDM through design changes, updates and improvements to the product.

Temtco York’s General Manager, Bill Walker, challenges his team to fabricate the panels as if their children were inside the guard post.  Superior quality with zero defects is imperative, as our troops lives depend on it being 100% right.  It is very satisfying as the Temtco York team works through the process of a build and successfully transforms master plates of MIL- 46100 armor into 24” x 24” armor panels.  Processing at York includes shot blasting, plasma cutting, laser cutting, forming, welding, sawing, machining, assembly, sub-contracting of aluminum frames & powder coating, along with the final assembly & inspection.  Shipment to DDM’s final customer is direct from our plant

The entire team at DDM, Marlton, NJ, is a pleasure to work with, according to Al Beiler, Sales Account Executive for DDM.  As Al likes to say, “This is a matter of national security.” The DDM team includes Bob, John, Joe, George, Kevin, Erinn, Karen, Adam, and Todd.  Temtco looks forward to building their relationship with this growing company.  Feel free to visit DDM’s website for more details at www.ddmat.com
